First Bath at Home

I didn't get pictures of her first bath cause I was alone when she had it, so here's her first bath at home. She wasn't a fan of the first one, but this one she seemed to enjoy.

Last night Jason went into work and I was alone with the 2 girls for the first time. I was nervous at first but things went very smoothly. I've been wanting to take some pictures of Lily and Emily together but I don't want to force the matter. Lily is pretty much oblivious to Emily. She notices her and doesn't seem to be angry or jealous, but the few times I've tried to get Lily to come over and see her, or to say hi to her, or I brought Emily close to her, I'm met with dirty looks or she pushes me away. I think she just needs some time to wrap her brain around the situation. Emily started fussing yesterday while I was in the bathroom and I guess it was drowning out Dora cause I heard Lily say "be quiet, be quiet". Could have been worse, Lily could have hit her or something.

Emily is doing a lot of sleeping and eating. She's still super tiny though. When we came home she was 6lbs 2.5 oz., all the newborn sized clothes we have are way too big! I pick up Lily now and I think "Oh my god, she's huge!"

So we're going to make the trip to Ottawa for Christmas. As long as Lily has her cartoons in the car she's fine and Emily just sleeps so we think it'll be a good trip. Jason's last shift is tonight and then he has the next 2 months off! Maybe I'll get some actual sleep :)

Wednesday night at 9:30 I was cutting Jason's hair (how else do you think we afford this house?!) when I got a sharp pain in my belly. I thought to myself that that wasn't my usual braxton hicks but figured I still had a week to go. Two hours and several painful contractions later I called the birthing centre to see if I should come in cause my contractions, although painful, weren't regular. They said because of my high blood pressure that I should come in and at least get checked out. So I called up Kasey who came over to watch Lily and we headed out to Walkerton. We got to the hospital at 12:30 and by the time I got there my contractions had averaged out to 8 minutes apart and when I was checked I was already 5cm dilated! So I had a nice relaxing soak in the tub and then got out cause the nurse wanted to put in my IV. She checked me again and I was at 8cm, I couldn't believe it, I thought "this is too easy"....I was right! My water broke shortly after and things progressed pretty quickly. Emily Grace came into the world in 2 pushes (beat my old record by 1!) at 3:21am, but that speed came with a price...stitches :(
