Snow Angel

It's been snowing here for 3 days straight but this afternoon the skies cleared and the sun came out so I took Lily out to play in the snow for the first time. The crisp cold air was a bit of a shock to her lungs at first, but she loved the crunchy sound of the snow when she moved in it. We're getting her a little sled for more wintertime fun!

Don't quit your day job mommy!

Mommy tried to do something with my hair today. It's getting pretty long on top and it's flopping in my eyes, but mommy doesn't want to cut it yet. Not too sure I like this look, I definitely didn't like the elastic!

Christmas Card Photo Out-takes

I tried to take a pretty picture of Lily by the Christmas tree for our Christmas cards this year. Lily was feeling a little mischievous I guess cause I took 64 pictures and most of them, although cute, aren't really what I had in mind!

What if I lean into the camera mom?

Hee hee hee, I have a secret...

What if I hike my dress up? It works for Britney...

Ooooo, presents! Is this one for me?

What about this one?

I'm checking the tag!

Yep, this one tastes like it's for me...

A fat man in a red suit is going to bring my presents down the chimney...you're kidding right?

Mommy you're so silly! You almost had me there.

Okay, I'll sit still, but hurry up cause I have gifts to drool on!

I'm 5 months old today!

Lilianna is 5 months old today...wow, time is FLYING by. As you can see she sits up all on her own, perfectly straight and steady most of the time. She was weighed on Tuesday and she's 15lbs 15.5oz! We're having lots of fun experimenting with food, she's had carrots and crackers and an arrowroot cookie. She also loves water, but only if we share from our water bottles. We started going to playgroup every Tuesday and Lily's making tons of new little friends. Yesterday I put her on the floor for Tummy Time and I noticed that she was trying to get up on her knees and go forward! She can get up there but she doesn't quite know what to do next so she flops down on her belly and tries again.

After months of Lily refusing to go to bed before midnight, we started getting her down at 7:30, but it was a real struggle. It was usually a couple of hours of her waking up and crying and us soothing her back to sleep, last night though, after her first big dinner of pablum and carrots, she went down at 7:00 and she only whined twice at the very beginning when her soother fell out. All we had to do was pop it back in and she went right back to sleep! It was soooooo awesome! I hope it keeps up cause we're all pretty tired. Lily's really looking forward to grandma, grandpa and auntie April visiting at christmas so she can show off all the new things she can do! And of course, we'll be down to Ottawa for New Year's so everyone can see how much she's grown. She also wants grandma and grandpa Goetz to know she misses them.

Mmmmm, orange goo!

We started Lily on carrots this week, the pablum alone wasn't a big hit with her (I don't blame her, it's pretty gross!). She loved the carrots though. I'm making all her baby food so maybe it's that extra ingredient I put in that won her over...all the love! Okay, I need to get out more.

Who are you?!?

Lilianna met Santa today. She wasn't sure what to make of him, but at least she didn't cry!

No more laying around for Lily!

These days Lily's not happy unless she's standing. She's been attempting to "walk", especially to get the remote control on the coffee table.

Daddy's a little camera shy!

Tell me a story Daddy

Once upon a time there was a beautiful Queen named Amanda and her beautiful little princess, Lilianna. The Queen and the princess loved to go shopping, especially for shoes! One day the Queen and the Princess bought so many pairs of shoes that...

...the king cut up their credit card and forbid them to ever go shopping again!

Just kidding Lily!

Pablum Face

We experimented with Pablum today, what a hoot! Lily's still a bit young for solids, and we wanted to wait until christmas, but she's been eating every hour lately so her doctor said we could give it a try. She hasn't quite gotten rid of the tongue reflex yet so getting pablum to the back of her mouth was challenging, but she seemed very interested with the whole process. We'll keep trying until we get it right!

What's going on? Why am I sitting in this thing?

This isn't a bottle...

Ooooo, this is interesting!

I'm not too sure I like this mommy...

Let me help you mom.

Hey, this stuff isn't that bad!

Daddy, I'm just eating cereal, it's not that big of a deal, you can stop taking pictures.

Hi grandma and grandpa!

Can we do this again?

Bestest Friends

Kelly and Kaitlyn came to visit us today all the way from Oakville. Kelly and I were pregnant at the same time and Lilianna and Kaitlyn are a month apart, to the day! It was fun putting the girls together and seeing them interact. Thanks for lunch Kelly! When we come to visit you, it'll be my treat :)

That was a long car ride!

Mommy, who's this baby next to me?

Let's ignore the camera! Okay!

Lily, come back!

We're bestest friends.

Let's do lunch!

Mommy's Birthday

Mommy and her two favourite birthday presents

Today was mommy's birthday. It was a special day because daddy was home and I was such a good girl all day long. Daddy and I got mommy a video iPod for her birthday, she loved it. She said she can't wait to put her favourite songs on and pictures and videos of me too! She's going to use it on our walks after I fall asleep in my stroller. We had a cake for mommy too, but I couldn't have any, mommy said I'm too little still. It was a fun day, I can't wait for my birthday!

Look what I can do!

Lily and I were hanging out on my bed tonight waiting for Jason to come home from work. Lily was laying down, straining to see a commercial for the movie Cars, so I sat her up holding her with one hand on her tummy and one on her back. She was so transfixed by the colours on the TV that I thought to myself, what if I take away the hand I have on her back, so I did and she was still sitting straight up. So then I moved my hand from her tummy and she sat there, perfectly straight staring at the TV. I got so excited and started to scan the room for my camera, which of course I had left down in the family room! She turned and looked at me and then, as if she realized what she was doing, she started laughing. So I jumped up and ran downstairs after praising her for being such a big girl and by the time I got back she was still sitting up, albeit not as straight, but all by herself! Another milestone.

I'm 4 months old today!

Hard to believe it's been 4 months since Lilianna was born. She's getting to be so big and each new day brings more smiles, laughs and drool. Poor puddin' face is starting to teethe and although she barely complains about it, the rosy cheeks and constant chewing on everything is a pretty good indicator. I'm getting very excited for her first Christmas, not that she'll have any idea what's going on, but it's fun for me and Jason!
